Growth plans clear for Morley Glass with 40,000 sq ft factory move

INTEGRAL blind fabricator Morley Glass & Glazing has moved into a 40,000 sq ft factory in Leeds which sees the company invest over £1m, tripling its manufacturing footprint as well as creating eight jobs.

Located at Leeds 27 Industrial Estate just off the M62, the facility is the largest factory in the world manufacturing integral blinds into insulating glass units.

Morley Glass has moved from Millshaw Park Industrial Estate, Leeds, and signed a 15 year lease on the premises.

Established in 1998 and now employing 58 staff, the company recently announced 30% year-on-year growth as demand continues to increase for its Uni-Blind sealed units which feature venetian and pleated blinds permanently sealed within a double glazed unit.  Morley Glass & Glazing has become Europe’s largest ScreenLine integral blind fabricator.

“Having been based in Leeds for the last 18 years, we are committed to the city and it’s fantastic that, working with Clarion, we’ve been able to secure larger premises here to accommodate our continued growth,” says Ian Short, managing director of Morley Glass.

“Our new factory will allow us to work more efficiently, invest in new machinery, improve our showroom, take on more staff and install a new customer training facility. We’re also planning to introduce exclusive new ScreenLine products and continue to attract more trade window and door fabricators and installers.”

Leeds law firm Clarion advised on the relocation.

Lindsay Texel, partner in Clarion’s property team, said: “Morley Glass is continuing to go from strength to strength – it’s great to see a West Yorkshire business able to expand while remaining in the region.”
