Helicopter crash leaves five casualties

POLICE were called to the scene of a helicopter crash at Breighton Airport near Selby yesterday.
Humberside Police were called at 6.07pm following the crash at the side of the runway.
All five injured were taken to hospital. Two were airlifted – their injuries were reportedly serious but not life threatening – to Hull Royal Infirmary and Leeds General Infirmary.
The Air Accident Investigation branch has launched enquiries into the crash during an airshow.
Breighton is a former Royal Air Force Station. It was later used to store Thor missiles and as a Cold War nuclear missile launch site before closing in March 1964.
It is now home to The Real Aeroplane Company’s classic aircraft collection and the Real Aeroplane Club, made up of enthusiasts of ex-military and classic planes.
