6 ways to get through a Friday

Many of us think that Mondays are the hardest day of the week with the struggle of getting up after a few days’ off. However, let’s think about this, Friday is actually much more difficult. Why? Because it is the day that drags the most and the moment you get excited about the weekend on the horizon, something goes wrong that could mean at least another five minutes in the office, when all you want to do is head to the pub or even better, to BED. Here are six ways to get through your Friday…
Give yourself plenty to do
Friday is the day that we’re most likely to try and get as much done as possible first thing in the morning so you can have a chilled afternoon. But by not having much to do during the afternoon isn’t actually the best thing to do. So instead of putting off the project you have got to do the following week, get started and keep yourself occupied, it will soon be time to pack up and leave.
Don’t go mad at lunch
Just because it is a Friday doesn’t mean a three-hour pub lunch is the way to go. Stick to a healthy lunch that will keep you going through the afternoon, as it is after lunch when you’ll be most likely to be half asleep. Try having a small lunch and snacking on nuts and fruit during the afternoon as they will keep your brain ticking over for a few hours.
Keep moving
Although you are probably ready to put your feet up, in order to keep motivated on a Friday afternoon, you will need to keep moving. Go for a 10-minute walk around the building or the area and get your juices flowing again. You will find it much easier to return to your desk and get the rest of your work done after you’ve had some time to yourself for a little while.
Plan for the following week
If you’re the type to panic when you first get to work on a Monday morning, you will need to start doing this simple task. Take a few minutes on a Friday afternoon to write down what you need to get done the following week and start making preparations. You will feel much better over the weekend as you will know that you’re organised for the following week.
Get cleaning
Don’t worry, you don’t need to get the hoover out or anything. But take a couple of minutes to clean your desk so you know that you will be returning to a clean environment the following week. Alternatively, have a clean out of emails so you don’t feel bombarded on Monday.
Treat yourself
Give yourself some motivation through the day and arrange to do something after work. Not only will this allow you to connect with your work colleagues, it will also get you all through the day as you all have something to look forward to. Alternatively, arrange a movie night or family time at home in the evening so you know you have some fun downtime just on the horizon.
Happy Friday!
