Chinese millionaire businesswoman leads bid for Hull City

A CHINESE consortium is about to swoop for Premier League club Hull City.
It has emerged that the current owners the Allam family are looking to sell to an interested group of investors from China, led by businessman Dai Yongge and his sister Hawken Xiu Li.
According to The Guardian Ehab Allem, Hull vice chairman and son of Hull City owner Assem is in advanced talks to sell the club to the Chinese group. He has been running the club in the absence of his father who is seriously ill.
Mr Allam, who bought the club in 2010, said he wanted to see it go to a “good home” after his application to change the club’s name to Hull Tigers was rejected by the Football Association two years ago. Since then it has been up for sale.
Hawken Xiu Li is one of China’s wealthiest businesswomen. Having completed a degree in Chinese literature and launching a career in journalism in China, she moved to London to study English, meeting teacher Tony Hawken.
In the 1990s she formed an investment company with her brother Dai Yongge redeveloping Second World War bomb shelters and military bunkers into shopping centres.
The London-based real estate entrepreneur dropped off Forbes’ list of billionaires last year .
The company also owns Bejing Renhe, a Chinese second division club.
