Traffic alert: A64 to be closed during rush-hour after three-vehicle crash

4.30PM: PART of the A64 is to remain closed in both directions during this evening’s rush hour while the police investigation continues into a three-vehicle crash earlier this afternoon.

Highways England has advised drivers to consider alternative routes with the A64 closedat the A166, near Grimston Bar.

Traffic is being taken off and then back on the A64 using the slip roads at the junction.

3PM:  The A64 remains closed, with road conditions now estimated to return to normal by 4.30pm.

2.30PM: NORTH Yorkshire Police officers are on the scene of a three-vehicle crash on the A64 that has closed the road.

The section between the junctions with the A19 and the A166 travelling east is closed, with early estimates suggesting it will take about an hour for the road to be cleared.

Traffic is extremely heavy both before and after the closed section, to the south and east of York city centre.
