People: Engineering consultancy adds four to specialist team; Law firm appoints newly-qualified solicitor; and more

PROFESSIONAL services and engineering consultancy WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has added four staff to its specialist environment arm in Leeds as part of an ongoing recruitment drive by the multi-disciplined business which employs more than 260 staff at its White Rose Business Park office.

Charley Wainwright, a contaminated land specialist, and Michael Armstrong, an expert in asbestos management, join the now 23 strong environment team as senior consultants, having moved from Ramboll Environ and Redhill Analysts respectively.

As part of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’s ongoing graduate recruitment drive, Gillian Birtles joins as graduate ecologist, with a remit to carry out habitat surveys and ecology assessments. She has in-depth knowledge of great crested newts; a protected species which is prolific in Yorkshire and has a reputation among developers for causing project delays and spatial constraints to development.

Thomas Gold joins the business as graduate environmental consultant and will work on a number of environmental projects while completing his Masters in Environmental Impact Assessment and Management at the University of Manchester.

The team is currently working on a number of high profile environment projects in the region including an environment appraisal for stage one of the Department for Transport and Highways England’s Northern Trans-Pennines Routes Strategic Study to dual the remaining sections of the A66 and A69.

Jonathan Fisher Andrew Jackson SolicitorsLAW firm Andrew Jackson Solicitors has appointed Jonathan Fisher, who has qualified as a solicitor following the completion of his two-year training contract.

Mr Fisher will continue to work in the firm’s corporate department where he has gained experience assisting the fee earners on a broad range of client matters, including acquisitions and disposals, share purchase agreements and management buy-outs.

Andrew Jackson’s managing partner, Mark Pearson-Kendall, said: “I am delighted that Jonathan is continuing his career with Andrew Jackson.
