DLA Piper redundancies reduced as consultation ends

EXPECTED redundancies have been reduced at DLA Piper following a consultation.

The Big Six law firm announced in May that it would be considering the loss of 200 jobs, a figure which has now been reduced to 175, with 59 of those taking voluntary redundancy.

85 jobs were set to be cut in the Leeds and Sheffield offices in the offshoring exercise which would move business support functions to a base in Poland.

This number has been reduced slightly to 83, and the firm will also be making 26 redundancies in the North West and 23 in Birmingham.

Andrew Darwin, chief operating officer at DLA Piper, said: “Our collective consultation has now concluded and we can confirm that we will be going ahead with our proposals to reduce the size of our IT, finance, HR, marketing & BD, and secretarial teams in the UK as part of our plans to operate more effectively on a global basis and improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of the way we deliver our services to our clients.”
