People: Ten hires for law firm; Insurance broker makes key appointment; and more

LAW firm Lupton Fawcett Denison Till has added ten staff to its team in Sheffield.

The new appointments cover a variety of legal disciplines including corporate, employment, dispute resolution, family, and both commercial and residential property.

Senior members of the new team include experienced family law specialist Gary Crothers, Sarah Sargent who has 12 years’ experience in residential and commercial property, company and commercial law specialist Neil Large, and the latest recruit, dispute resolution solicitor Kirsty Coggan.

Anouj Patel and Danielle Pawson, latest recruits at ClarionLEEDS law firm Clarion is continuing to invest in developing young talent with the appointment of another two trainee solicitors.

Anouj Patel and Danielle Pawson are the latest recruits to embark on a two-year training contract with Clarion during which time they will gain experience in at least four departments.

Mr Patel initially joins the corporate team.  A graduate of the University of Sheffield, he studied LLB Law with European and International Law and undertook his LPC studies at University of Law, Leeds, which he completed in June this year.  His studies gave him the opportunity to study and work in the USA for 12 months based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School.

Ms Pawson’s first placement is with the family team.  She gained her LLB Law at University of Birmingham and went on to graduate earlier this year gaining an LPC from the University of Law, Leeds. She has previous legal experience having worked as a paralegal and as a legal assistant.

Paula Ellerington Henderson InsuranceNEW recruit Paula Ellerington is bringing wide commercial experience to the Hull office of Henderson Insurance Brokers (HIBL).

Her appointment to the account executive team comes as the branch continues to grow after passing the £10m a year milestone for premiums placed.

With HIBL seeking further business in the construction sector and other commercial fields, including farming, haulage and property, her focus is on building the client base, in particular working with the region’s SMEs.

Andrew Wakefield, branch director, said that her appointment would help the Hull office maintain its consistent rate of progress since opening in 2004.

“Paula knows how to look after clients, she has expert knowledge and can contribute a lot to our growing business,” he said.

Feather Smailes Scales  has appointed Siobhan Riley HARROGATE-based Feather Smailes Scales (FSS) has appointed Siobhan Riley as commercial property surveyor and manager, joining Dan Brumfitt in the firm’s commercial property division.

Ms Riley graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc (Hons) in Business Property Management, and brings to FSS a wealth of experience gained at King Frank, Brackenridge Hanson Tate, and Atkinson Associates.

“We’re delighted to welcome such an experienced commercial property expert to the FSS team, on the back of 12 months of real growth for the firm, and a very strong year for the commercial property division in particular,” said Richard Smailes, partner.   “The agency is expanding into the West Yorkshire market, where Siobhan has a particular expertise, and we therefore believe her to be a key hire for the firm.”
