30 jobs created with dessert restaurant opening

A CONCEPT dessert restaurant has launched in Hull creating 30 jobs.

Kaspa’s Desserts has opened in Paragon Square just as Hull embarks on its City of Culture year 2017, serving hot and cold treats from waffles and crepes to sundaes and smoothies.

The brand launched in London and is rolling out across Yorkshire starting with its new 88-cover restaurant in Hull.

Domino’s Pizza is also being fitted out in the premises next door and is on schedule to open next month.

Regent House Estates Ltd, owners of the property which stretches from Paragon Square along Ferensway to Anlaby Road, have been attempting to revive the area in time for 2017.

Paul White, agency director at Garness Jones, said: “It has taken a long time but the investment in Paragon Square is now really starting to bear fruit in time for the City of Culture year.

“Stanley’s Brasserie has been in place for seven years and there has been a lot of activity with the neighbouring properties as the rest of the square has taken shape. The result is an impressive new look and a completely new atmosphere.”

Hannah Foster, operations manager of the Yorkshire operations of Kaspa’s, said: “We are very proud of our product and of our restaurant and we hope to open another in Hull next year along with more in other Yorkshire cities.”

Kathryn Shillito, HullBID city centre manager, said: “Regent House Properties have demonstrated great determination and real vision in redeveloping these sites and bringing in exactly the right sort of businesses.

“The combination of gelato and pizza is a real crowd-puller, as is the fact that both businesses will be open during the day and well into the evening, seven days a week.”
