Recruitment group invests £1m in growth

RECRUITMENT group Specialist People Services has invested £1m in technology as it looks to develop its management systems behind the scenes.

It also confirmed that for the year to March 2016, revenues reached £129.4m, an increase of 11% compared with the 2014/15 financial year.

SPS, which is backed by private equity investor LDC, include Driver Hire and rail services provider ISS Labour, under its umbrella.

The £1m investment includes the development and roll-out of Driver Hire’s new core operations system and an online driving licence verification service.

The company has also made two senior-level appointments. Interim IT director John Keelan-Edwards has been appointed on a permanent basis as Driver Risk Management and group technology services director. Andy Hibbert, previously group commercial and sales director at 24/7 Recruitment, has been appointed as Driver Hire’s network development director.

Chris Chidley, SPS group chief executive, said: “The culmination of this major investment in our technology infrastructure and senior team means we are now offering our clients truly outstanding, integrated and UK-wide services.
