New ownership looms for Bradford Bulls

A DEAL is looming for Bradford Bulls which would see the rugby league side under new ownership, according to joint administrators.

Gary Steven Pettit and Gavin Bates of PBC Business recovery were appointed to the club to deal with its administration, its third in as many years.

They said that the club was aiming to agree a deal in principle in the next two weeks.

A reported six interested parties were looking to seal the deal with the Bulls, but now the figure has gone up to 12, said Mr Pettit. Four of those are thought to be serious offers.

Mr Pettit told BBC Radio Leeds: “It’s a short period of time, but we’re conscious that the new season starts on 5 February and the owner needs to bed in.

“What we would do is agree it all in principle and offer them a licence to trade and occupy, while we go to the creditors and report what we’re going to do. On the basis they approve then we’d look at finalising the paperwork.”

A ban from the Rugby Football League means that the team could start the season with points deduction. They are due to start the new season with a match against Hull KR.
