Law firm launches new office after acquiring 200 year-old business

LAW firm Avery Walters Solicitors has launched its third office in as many years following the acquisition of a Harrogate firm.

It has bought up Powell Eddison Freeman and Wilks, founded as Powell Eddison in 1790, making it one of the oldest law firms in the UK.

A full service practice based on Albert Street in the spa town, it was acquired over the summer and it is now moving the business into the centre of Harrogate at Raglan House.

They also plan to further expand the firm in 2017.

Andrew Parascandolo, managing partner of firm said: “We are delighted to continue our expansion plans with the acquisition of Powell Eddison in Harrogate. It is an excellent firm with an enviable client base and reputation to match. We feel very humbled to have been given the opportunity to take forward this prestigious local name, which is older than M&S.

“Our intention is to continue to grow the Powell Eddison brand in Harrogate and to recruit more brilliant lawyers in the various fields of expertise in the coming months. Therefore, we are always eager to chat with any gifted lawyers that want to work for a progressive and pragmatic firm.”
