Leeds group wins major HMRC contract

MARKETING services business Communisis has won a contract with Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs for all outbound customer communications.

Leeds-based Communisis has signed a three-year deal with the option of a two year extension to help HMRC deploy communications.

Currently HMRC sends around 185m letters a year.

Chief executive Andy Blundell said: “We are very pleased to have been awarded this landmark contract from HMRC. Communisis offered an optimum technology solution, displaying the best understanding of the business requirements. We are excited to be starting this new relationship, in support of HMRC’s “digital by default” agenda.”

Following a major restructure at Communisis, which saw 70 jobs axed, revenues for the half year stayed relatively static at £174.9m, up from £174.6m but half year pre-tax profits increased to £4.4m from £3.2m. It returned to the black earlier this year after a challenging period.
