Pre-pack administration deal saves 126 jobs

126 JOBS have been saved after a pre-pack deal saved a Bradford-based halal poultry business from shutting down.

Yorkshire Poultry Products, registered as YPP Realisations, is based at Hammerton Street in the city.

In its latest available accounts, Yorkshire Poultry Products turned over £37.7m for the year to 31 July 2014, down from £51.1m the year before. It had managed to narrow its losses from nearly £1m to losses of just over £170,000.

It had experienced a downturn in trading in recent years which resulted in cash flow pressures.

Directors called in administrators Howard Smith and Jonny Marston of KPMG on 5 December 2016.

In the absence of any interest from buyers, directors of the company put forward a rescue package to take the business forward.

Shortly after the appointment of administrators, a sale of the business and assets of the company completed. The deal included retaining its full staff of 126 employees.

YPP, which slaughters between 120,000-130,000 chickens per week, specialises in the supply of halal poultry in accordance with requirements as laid down in Islamic law.

Roger Hutton and Nicola Collins of Leeds law firm Clarion advised the administrators.
