University refurb project completes

A £68,000 refurbishment project for the information centre at the University of York has been completed.

The Yorkshire office of building and civil engineering company Britcon completed the work in three weeks, which saw the centre on the University’s Campus West being stripped out, reconfigured and refurbished with new floor finishes, ceilings, improved lighting and feature walls.

Gary Ashmore, head of estates development at the University of York, said: “This important reconfiguration and refurbishment project had to be completed in a very short timescale, in the heart of an occupied building which is located in one of the most publically visible and accessible parts of our campus. The risk of things going awry was high but the Britcon team rose to the challenge, delivering a high quality end product on time and with minimum disruption to other building occupants.  The University is delighted with the new space.”

Britcon has extensive expertise in the education sector. It has recently completed major building and refurbishment projects for the University of Bradford, University of Huddersfield and Queen Ethelberga’s Collegiate.  Other projects include Royds Hall School in Huddersfield, Roundhay Primary School in Leeds and Ward Green School in Barnsley.
