People: Property partner joins Ward Hadaway; Agency kicks off 2017 with seven hires; and more

Simon Hellewell has joined the Leeds office of Ward Hadaway as property partner.

He has more than 20 years’ specialist expertise in a range of different real estate fields with particular strength in the house building sector.

Hellewell has advised a range of residential developers, including substantial regional house building companies, on matters including land acquisition, site assembly, joint venture agreements and overage on sites ranging from a handful of houses to major 300-home estates.

Outside of the house building sector, he has worked with developers, retailers, investors, lenders and insolvency practitioners on a broad spectrum of matters.
Hellewell has acted on acquisitions and disposals of investment properties ranging from high street shops to business parks and multi-million pound office premises in locations across the country.

He said: “I’m delighted to be joining the firm at a very exciting time in its development.

“There is a sense that Ward Hadaway is really going places with its relocation to Wellington Place and I’m really looking forward to playing my part in the firm’s continued success and helping its clients with a wide range of property matters.”

CreativeRace new hiresCreativeRace, has strengthened its Leeds office for 2017 with the addition of seven staff across various departments.

This includes introducing a dedicated social media team for the first time in the agency’s 30-year history.

The new hires, and the introduction of a dedicated social media team, follow multiple client wins during the end of last year, as well as continued work with key clients such as ASDA, Greggs, DFS and Coral. CreativeRace’s total staff count is now at 143 across both Leeds and London.

The new recruits include Emma Streets, James Pilkington, Katie Sherdley,
Oliver Osborne, Eve Eastwood, Mandip Kaur and Emma Denny.

 Stewart Woodeson Aldwark ManorQHotels has appointed Stewart Woodeson as general manager of Aldwark Manor, the luxury four-star spa and golf hotel near York.

He joins from The Hotel Collection, bringing more than 20 years’ experience to the role, having worked as a general manager for some of the UK’s most well-known hotel brands, including InterContinental, Crerar Hotels, Swallow Hotels and Mercure.

Woodeson has a wealth of experience in catering from his time as food and beverage manager at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, and knowledge of the golf industry from his previous role at Celtic Manor Resort in Wales.

He said: “Aldwark Manor is a fantastic hotel that has so much to offer both leisure and corporate guests, with stunning surroundings and a great atmosphere. I’m delighted to be taking this role and look forward to working with the whole team to showcase just what Aldwark Manor has on offer.”
