People: Director appointed at HSBC commercial centre; Knight Frank hire for Towngate; and more

The HSBC Hull Commercial Centre in Hull has appointed a new corporate banking relationship director.

Dan Wilson brings 20 years’ experience of the banking sector, particularly within the Humber business community.

He joins corporate banking colleagues Simon Cook and Scott Christian as well as Caroline Atkinson who works with the area’s large corporates, and will work alongside the business banking team led by Phil Look.

Adam Kelly, HSBC’s deputy head of corporate banking for North Yorkshire & Humber, says: “With Hull’s achievement of City of Culture status now upon us, this appointment is a further demonstration of our continued desire to invest and develop our full corporate banking proposition in the area – providing a local presence, to service the needs of corporate businesses across the whole of the wider Humber region.”

Tomb Lamb TowngateTom Lamb has joined Brighouse-headquartered Towngate as the commercial and industrial lettings specialist prepares for its next phase of growth.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the sector, Lamb has been appointed as Towngate’s property manager. He comes on board following a decade at Knight Frank, where he was partner in the Leeds-based industrial and logistics department. Before that he spent five years at banking and financial services giant BNP Paribas.

His new role will see him oversee Towngate’s growing portfolio of property lets in Yorkshire and the North West. Managing everything from 1000sq ft space for start-ups through to vast 300,000sq ft industrial sites, he will also be on the hunt for new acquisitions – including land and premises ripe for refurbishment and redevelopment.

Towngate’s managing director, Robert  Smith, said: “The Northern property market is strong and demand for the right space is high. We’ve therefore got a real appetite to capitalise on the opportunities becoming available throughout the region, and hope to increase our total portfolio of assets by up to 20% by the end of 2017.

“The key goal for Tom is to source, procure and manage a variety of different assets that offer clients a breadth of choice. We’re looking for everything from good quality secondary industrial properties that are ready to let, through to larger properties in need of refurbishment.”

Scott Burton Cedar Court HotelScott Burton has been hired as general manager of the Cedar Court Hotel at Ainley Top between Huddersfield and Halifax.

Burton is taking over the lead role bringing with him extensive experience at top hotels. He began his career in 1999 at the Best Western Plus Cedar Court Hotel in Harrogate before expanding his career further afield including at a resort hotel in Australia.

His most recent leadership position has been back at the Best Western Plus Cedar Court Hotel Harrogate as deputy manager for three and a half years.
Burton has also worked at the Best Western Plus Dene Court Hotel, a four star hotel in the centre of York. 

Cedar Court Hotels Group COO Mathew Griffin said: “Scott’s background is a good fit for the hotel and we had no hesitation in his appointment. He brings the commercial drive required to take the business forwards with the right experience and ambition to continue to raise standards.”
