New Year Honours for Yorkshire business figures

DAVID Jones CBE, who transformed Next into a high street success story, has received a knighthood in the New Year Honours list for services to business and charity.
As well as heading the chain until his retirement in 2001, the 65-year-old Ilkley-based businessman has raised large sums of money for those suffering from Parkinson’s disease, which he was diagnosed with in 1982.
Other Yorkshire-based recipients of New Year Honours include:
– Samuel Judah, managing director of Hull-based GBA Group, who receives an MBE for services to the business and community of East Yorkshire.
– Thomas Goldberg, from Driffield, chairman of the AWI Group, receives an MBE for services to international trade.
– David Kerfoot, managing director of Northallerton-based speciality oils business The Kerfoot Group, receives an MBE for services to business and the local community.
– Nicholas Cust, from York, joint managing director of Superbreak, receives an OBE for services to the tourist industry.
– Andrew Pindar, chairman of Scarborough-based printing company Pindar, receives an OBE for services to business and the Scarborough community.
