Financial planners upbeat despite downturn

YORKSHIRE-based financial firm Lawrence Scoffield has posted a rise in full-year turnover.

Turnover for the year to December 31 was up 15% to £2.3m.

The firm is also set to recruit new staff as it aims for further growth.

The company, which offers individual and company financial planning advice as well as insurance services, was bought by a four-strong management team last year.

The management buyout team, who bought the business from founders Paul Lawrence and Dominic Scoffield, was made up of Neil Moles, Sean Narey, Andrew Fraser and Steve Thompson.

The firm has a substantial personal and corporate client base both in Yorkshire and London and is involved with companies on the US Nasdaq stock exchange.

Following the deal, the new management team said they wanted to grow turnover from £2m to £10m over the next five years.
