RBS backs Yorkshire caravan park deal

LANCASHIRE caravan park operator Barleymow has expanded its operations with the acquisition of a holiday park in Yorkshire.

The deal to acquire Cawood Park near Selby for an undisclosed sum, was completed by Scarisbrick-based Barleymow after securing funding from The Royal Bank of Scotland.

Barleymow previously held a 50% stake in the 12-acre site at Cawood that offers a mix of holiday accommodation including bungalows, cottages, fixed and mobile caravan pitches.

Cawood Park is open throughout the year and holds a four star rating under the AA’s recognition scheme for caravan and camping parks.  The site has its own coarse fishing lake, a licensed club house and an onsite shop.

Barleymow is a family-run business that was established in 1981 and owns Shaw Hall Caravan Park near Scarisbrick.  The park, which is bordered by the Leeds Liverpool Canal, offers 300 static pitches and 45 touring pitches.  Other facilities include a bowling green, putting green, children’s play area and full size football pitch.

Sally  Pringle, director of Barleymow, said: “Having been involved in the day to day running of Cawood for a number of years we are very pleased to have reached an agreement to take complete ownership of the site.  Cawood benefits from an idyllic natural location combined with modern amenities and our goal is to establish the site as one of Yorkshire’s premier holiday establishments.”

RBS in Preston provided funding for the acquisition.  Brian Heyes, relationship manager at RBS, commented: “Sally and her fellow directors impressed us with their industry knowledge and future plans for the site.  Under their direct control we believe Cawood Park will continue to be a great success.”
