New law firm formed with merger

LAW firms Howard Cohen and Co and Cramer Richards Solicitors have merged.

Howard Cohen and Co is a general practice solicitors, while Cramer Richards is a specialist commercial firm.

The merged firm, Cohen Cramer, will be based in Leeds and both firms said they had identified the need to supply a more comprehensive service to clients.

The merger has created a nine partner legal practice, employing 30 lawyers, supported by 20 others.

Howard Cohen, senior partner, said: “Cohen Cramer will work in partnership with clients providing advice and support throughout each stage of life and business; both personal and professional.

“It’s a bold move in uncertain economic times but we want to ensure the firm continues to move forward and this is a very positive step.”

Joint managing partner Richard Cramer said: “We’ve joined forces to give more to our clients. The expertise we each have complements the other perfectly.

“These are challenging times and our joint philosophy is to foster existing long term relationships whilst establishing new ones.”

Established almost 30 years ago, Howard Cohen & Co has grown to boast eight partners and a staff of around 40 people based in Leeds serving businesses and individuals nationwide.

Cramer’s Solicitors was established in 2002, and experienced growth in areas including sports, media and entertainment law.

The practice merged with Oakwood-based John Richards & Co in 2004, creating legal entity Cramer Richards with 20 staff members.

Howard Cohen and Co operates out of premises in Park Square, Leeds, while Cramer Richards Solicitors is based in Oakwood Leeds.

Following the merger Cohen Cramer will be occupying enlarged office space in central Leeds, with the location expected to be confirmed shortly.
