Key food manufacturers and distributors to brainstorm sector’s future

SOME of the region’s leading food manufacturers, distributors and retailers will meet this week to discuss the sector’s future.

The talks will take place at a Regional Food Group (RFG) hosted forum at the National Aviation Academy in Doncaster.

The invitation only event will be chaired by Barry Dodd – chairman of GSM, the largest manufacturer of industrial graphic products in Europe.

Speakers include Rosie Winterton, Minister for Yorkshire, and Prof Martin Christopher, professor of marketing and logistics at Cranfield University and a visiting professor at the Hull Unbiversity, who will discuss agile supply chains and alternative transport options.

Jonathan Knight, RFG chief executive, said that the region had a much more significant national role in food processing and supply chain issues.

“I am delighted that we have a strong cast for this event, and we look forward to the industry attendees adding stimulus to the proceedings,” he said.

“New ideas and solutions will involve close collaboration between all players in supply chains, and I feel this event will provide a useful forum to give the process momentum.”
