Falling pound boosts bookings for travel firm

TRAVEL operator David Palmer Coaches has admitted to being surprised and astonished at the success of a recent holiday show.
The Normanton near Wakefield-based family-owned firm said despite worrying whether the event would generate the footfall of previous years, the first booking was made within 10 minutes of the doors opening.
Moreover, the coach trip specialist took a total of 300 bookings on the day – making the show its most successful to date.
Director Andrew Palmer said: “We believe that people want something to look forward to and we have something to suit all ages and tastes.
“The price of the euro has helped with people preferring to holiday in the UK. Our priority now is to make sure our customers have the best time possible and to encourage more people to book holidays with us.”
The company, which employs 26 staff, has nine vehicles including four executive coaches, three midi and two vintage.
Most popular tours/destinations include overnight breaks to London, themed breaks such as Shopping and Theatre trips, ladies pamper weekends, Battle of the Proms, the Edinburgh & Windsor Tattoo as well as more traditional trips to seaside resorts such as Bournemouth, Sidmouth and Llandudno.
