Sales growth for Nisa-Today’s wholesale arm

TODAY’S Group has seen sales by its members grow by 6.7% in volume terms in the first nine months of the year despite tough trading conditions.

The company, the wholesale arm of Nisa-Today’s, said it was particularly pleased to see 9.5%% sales growth from members in the food service and catering sector who had shrunk margins to support their customers.

Bill Laird, managing director of Today’s Group, “We are delighted with the support the vast majority of our key supplier partners are demonstrating for the sector and Today’s Group in particular, which has led to this growth.

“We may see a small shift downwards as consumers switch their loyalty to the major multiples during December, but I’m confident that we’ll finish the year in a very strong position.”

Non-food sales grew 10% in the first three quarters of the year while licensed goods volumes were up 4% and impulse goods 3.6%.

Scunthorpe-based Today’s Group is made up of 240 independent delivery and cash and carry wholesalers operating under their own name or Today’s branding.

Earlier this year, Nisa-Today’s recorded record turnover of £1.5bn, an increase of 11.9% on the previous year.
