New era for Yorkshire laminate specialist
TRIESSE, the Yorkshire wood panelling and laminate specialist,
has been bought by Montague L Meyer.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, will see Sherburn-in-Elmet-based
Triesse become part of a national group that already sells products
within the same market, although to different sectors.
Triesse, which was founded more than 30 years ago, was originally
based in Church Fenton, but in 2005 relocated its two principal
operating divisions to new premises in Sherburn-in-Elmet near
Leeds.
The panel cutting division and head office are based in a purpose
built modern 40,000sq ft building on Sherburn Enterprise Park, with
the veneered board, laminating and distribution division located
nearby at The Maltings.
Its veneering and laminating division is one of the last
independent veneered board manufacturers in the UK.
Barking-based Montague L Meyer also boasts a long corporate history
having been founded 90 years ago. The firm, which was taken over in
a management buyout in 1998, operates from eight locations
including Leeds and Newcastle.
Susan Clark of law firm Last Cawthra Feather, who headed a team of
lawyers acting for Triesse, said:
“It was very satisfying for me to be involved in the deal,
having acted when the company was originally purchased in
1997.”
Paul Anderson of Last Cawthra Feather dealt with property matters
and Elizabeth Henry gave legal guidance on employment issues.
