{"id":2135675,"date":"2025-02-28T08:31:34","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T08:31:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/yorkshire\/?p=2135675"},"modified":"2025-02-28T10:01:36","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T10:01:36","slug":"transformational-first-quarter-at-benchmark","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thebusinessdesk.com\/yorkshire\/news\/2135675-transformational-first-quarter-at-benchmark","title":{"rendered":"Transformational first quarter at Benchmark"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aquaculture biotechnology business, Benchmark, today hailed a \u2018stepping stone\u2019 first quarter as it nears completion on the sale of its Genetics business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Sheffield-based company, which is streamlining its operations, revealed a 30 per cent drop in revenue to \u00a317.7m from continuing operations in its Q1 FY25 results. Adjusted EBITDA moved into the red with losses of \u00a3200,000 compared to a profit of \u00a33.5m last year<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trond Williksen, CEO, said the first quarter of 2025 has been a stepping-stone quarter for the business, representing a period of transition for Benchmark ahead of completion of the Genetics disposal and streamlining of the continuing business.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added: \u201cOur reported performance reflects ongoing weakness in the global shrimp markets for Advanced Nutrition coupled with a temporary change in product mix and a solid performance in Health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u201cLooking forward we expect an improvement in trading conditions and margins, and we have two well positioned businesses
