A co-operative of entrepreneurs dedicated to accelerating startups has announced the launch of it first co-fund.<\/p>\n
Venture.Community is open to companies for deals at pre-seed and seed stages. Founder, Peter Hopton, says he is expecting international partners to commit between $10m and $30m into South Yorkshire startups within the next three to five years.<\/p>\n
Venture.Community\u2019s co-operative model provides ethical acceleration and like-for-like access for founders and financiers to secure the best fit for both parties.<\/p>\n
Hopton says this approach enables companies avoid overdependence on single venture capital house.<\/p>\n
He says: \u201cThe foundational funding of startups is critical if they wish to be competitive at an international level when they start to raise funds to scale.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is also critical in South Yorkshire, where we have great engineers and technology but insufficient access to entrepreneurial education and early-stage investment.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur membership includes experienced entrepreneurs that co-operate to help founders build promising companies as well as enable access to networks for finance and customers. There are fast becoming excellent networks in South Yorkshire for Angels and there\u2019s a lot underway to convene long-established industries, too, not least in manufacturing, aerospace and defence.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cVenture.Community\u2019s first cohort since FCA registration has begun and there are six excellent companies that are already making great progress with strategy and commercial traction\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n
The co-operative accelerator cohort includes AddParts, Future Greens, Gold Standard Phantoms, Tickets for Good and TUBR.<\/p>\n
The co-fund comes as part of Venture.Community\u2019s April 2024 founding-pledge to target \u00a3100m in venture capital funding over five years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
