Help for first time buyers and market beating savings rates have seen sales and profits soar at Yorkshire Building Society.<\/p>\n
The mutual said in the first half 2025, it continued to grow both membership and its mortgage balance sheet which increased to \u00a350.6bn in the period. Yorkshire Building Society said it has provided more than 18,000 new residential mortgages, nearly 4,000 went to first-time buyers.<\/p>\n
In the six months to June 30, income increased by 26% to \u00a3429.6m, compared to \u00a3340.8m last year, while pre-tax profits soared 19% to \u00a3187.9m<\/p>\n
The mutual said it has continued to help customers by extending its ground-breaking \u00a35k deposit mortgage to flats and, in the face of stamp duty increases, offering up to \u00a36,250 cashback to help first-time buyers with the higher cost of buying a home.<\/p>\n
Savers opened 288,000 new Yorkshire Building Society accounts between January and June. They benefited from rates 0.63p higher than the rest of market average, meaning the mutual\u2019s savers earned an extra \u00a3132.2m in the first five months of 2025 alone. Its customers saved more than \u00a31m on their home insurance premiums, after just six months of a new, zero-commission partnership with Uinsure.<\/p>\n
