Howden Joinery has reported solid trading for periods seven to 11 as the kitchen specialist continues to outpace its competitors in a challenging market.

The UK’s largest trade kitchen supplier delivered sales up 2.8% on the prior year, or 1.4% on a same-depot basis. Growth was driven by a combination of price and volume improvements, with Howdens highlighting the benefit of its broad product range, strong stock availability and continued investment in customer service.

In the UK, sales rose 2.4% with the company reported record trading during its peak period ending 1 November. Howdens said an additional £8m of sales booked on the final day will be recognised in Period 12, lifting UK sales growth to 3.1% and group growth to 3.5%.

International operations once again proved to be a standout, with sales up 14.7% in local currency, reflecting the growing traction of Howdens’ in-stock, trade-only model in its overseas markets.

Chief executive Andrew Livingston said the results underscored the strength of the company’s proposition and the operational discipline of its depot teams. He said: “Our continued strong momentum, including a record peak trading period, reflects the strength of our business model and the excellent execution of our strategic initiatives.

“Despite a challenging market, we continue to grow by supporting our customers with unmatched stock availability, our best-ever product line up, and outstanding service.”

Howdens reiterated that it expects to deliver full-year 2025 profit before tax in line with current market expectations, which average £331m.
