The move takes Jet2\u2019s total number of UK bases to 14.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"879\">Chief executive Steve Heapy described the Gatwick move as a \u201conce-in-a-generation opportunity\u201d that will accelerate the group\u2019s growth and strengthen its presence in the South of England.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"881\" data-end=\"1116\">He said: \u201cFor many years our ambition has been to bring Jet2\u2019s differentiated, service-led offering to London Gatwick. This represents a transformational change in our addressable market, underscoring the scale of opportunity ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1118\" data-end=\"1425\">Gatwick serves a catchment area of around 15 million people within an hour\u2019s journey, with seven million living within 30 miles. The group said it will make a \u201cmeaningful step-up in short-term investment\u201d to establish its operations and brand presence at Gatwick. Start-up costs are expected in FY26, with profitability anticipated from FY29 onwards.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1652\" data-end=\"1866\">The move is part of Jet2\u2019s wider long-term growth and value creation plan, which focuses on expanding its fleet, strengthening its regional base network, and maintaining its \u201cPeople, Service, Profits\u201d philosophy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1868\"
