York house builder Persimmon has reported a solid second half with sales rising in a challenging market<\/p>\n
In the six months to 1 July, forward sales were up 15% year-on-year to \u00a32.79bn and private forward sales rose 15% to \u00a32.09bn. Average sales outlets increased 4% to 272.<\/p>\n
Sales\u00a0 climbed 9% on last year, despite a softening in market conditions since the summer and consumer caution ahead of the Government\u2019s upcoming Budget. The private average selling price in the forward order book held steady at around \u00a3295,150 – up 1.5% on the same point last year.<\/p>\n
Persimmon has continued to expand its product offer, launching Rezide, its second shared equity scheme, alongside the earlier new build boost initiative aimed at supporting affordability. Its premium Charles Church brand is also performing strongly following a recent relaunch.<\/p>\n
Land investment remains steady, with \u00a3336m spent so far this year and total plots owned or controlled rising to around 83,800. Planning approvals and outlet growth continue to underpin future volume ambitions.<\/p>\n
Group chief executive Dean Finch said: \u201cThis demonstrates the benefit of the investment made in the business in recent years. We remain on track to deliver our 2025 performance in line with market expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Finch added that while near-term challenges persist, Persimmon remains confident in the \u201cunderlying strength of the market\u201d and expects to grow margins and shareholder returns over the medium term.<\/p>\n
