The company has since reverted to its original, smaller-scale plan, which is now under consideration once again.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1213\">A decision is expected imminently, with the application scheduled to go before the council\u2019s planning committee following just one week\u2019s notice &#8211;\u00a0 a move that has drawn criticism from campaigners.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1459\">The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Harrogate Pinewoods Conservation Group<\/span><\/span> has voiced strong concerns about the timing, arguing it leaves limited opportunity for residents to examine newly published documents and respond to a proposal they say carries significant local impact.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1661\">If approved, the development would involve the loss of a section of established woodland to make way for a new bottling facility, alongside an increase in heavy vehicle movements to and from the site.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1663\" data-end=\"1942\">The company, owned by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Danone<\/span><\/span> since 2020, maintains the expansion is necessary to increase capacity for a product exported to more than 40 countries. It has also pledged environmental mitigation, including large-scale tree planting to offset losses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1944\" data-end=\"2103\">In recent days, the firm has stepped up efforts to underline the economic case for the project, claiming it could inject \u00a317m into the regional economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2438\">It says the majority of its supply chain is already locally based, with around half of suppliers operating within 50 miles of Harrogate. Plans suggest spending with local businesses alone could rise by nearly 90%, while packaging and service contracts would also see substantial growth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2440\" data-end=\"2664\">The company argues that increased production would support a wide range of sectors &#8211; from logistics and recruitment to design, maintenance and training &#8211; helping to sustain jobs and create new opportunities across Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2666\" data-end=\"2843\">Ian Swann, operations director at Harrogate Spring Water said: \u201cHarrogate Spring Water has a long history of working with suppliers based here in Yorkshire and across the North.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2845\" data-end=\"3059\">&#8220;The vast majority of what we use every day is already sourced regionally and our expansion plans would increase demand across our supply chain as part of normal operations, keeping more value in the local economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3061\" data-end=\"3281\">&#8220;The projected impacts of our expansion proposals are based on Harrogate Spring Water\u2019s current supply chain and highlight how increased production capacity would subsequently increase total spend on regional suppliers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3283\" data-end=\"3465\">Supporters also point to employment benefits, with recruitment specialists highlighting the company\u2019s track record of hiring locally for permanent roles offering long-term prospects.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3467\" data-end=\"3702\">Jonny McPartland, managing consultant at <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Marmion Recruitment<\/span><\/span> said: \u201cWe\u2019ve worked alongside Harrogate Spring Water since 2023, and we\u2019ve seen first-hand how committed they are to recruiting and developing local talent.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3704\" data-end=\"3932\">&#8220;We\u2019ve supported the business across a range of roles, and seniorities, from production operatives to administrators to engineering managers, and each role has been filled by people living in Harrogate and the surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3934\" data-end=\"4097\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\u201cWhat stands out most is that these are permanent positions offering stability, development, and long-term career progression
