An international architecture and development consultancy has selected Sheffield as the location for its first UK office as part of plans to expand its global footprint.

ATI Architects, which is headquartered in Dubai, has taken space at the UKSE Innovation Centre, establishing a base in the city to support its international operations and develop relationships with clients and partners across the UK.

Founded in 1980, the business has grown into a multi-disciplinary consultancy employing more than 150 people and delivering more than 700 projects worldwide.

Operating across sectors including residential, commercial, education, hospitality, healthcare and science, ATI Architects has evolved beyond traditional architecture services to provide support throughout the development lifecycle, from land acquisition and feasibility studies through to project delivery and sales.

The move marks the company’s first office in the UK, adding to its existing presence in Dubai, Sharjah and Cairo.

ATI said Sheffield was chosen because of its access to graduate talent, established professional networks and growing reputation as a centre for innovation.

The firm has taken a 220 sq ft office at the UKSE Innovation Centre, close to Sheffield city centre and the city’s universities, and plans to use the base as a platform for future growth across the North of England.

Ian McSweeney, director at ATI Architects, said: “Sheffield is a city I have a strong personal connection to, but it also presents a compelling business case.

“The quality of talent, the strength of the professional network and the opportunities for collaboration make it an ideal location for our first UK office.

“We’re excited to build relationships here and to connect our international work with opportunities across the region.”

The Sheffield office will also help connect international investors and clients with opportunities in the UK market while strengthening collaboration with regional construction and design professionals.

Amber Winfield, social media and workspace coordinator at UKSE, said: “We’re delighted to welcome ATI Architects to the Innovation Centre.

“Their decision to establish a presence in Sheffield highlights the city’s growing reputation as a hub for talent and innovation, and we look forward to supporting their continued growth as they build their UK operations.”
