A Yorkshire property executive has swapped board meetings for the recording studio to release a charity single in memory of his baby daughter.

Ben Ziff, managing director of car park operator CitiPark and a board director at Leeds-based Town Centre Securities, has co-written Big Little Life (Cece’s Song) in tribute to his daughter Celine, who died from a rare cancer aged one year and 19 days.

The song, written with singer-songwriter Bertie, celebrates Celine’s life and personality, with all proceeds supporting Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice in North London, which cared for the family.

Celine was diagnosed with an extrarenal rhabdoid tumour, an extremely rare and aggressive cancer, and spent seven months receiving treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Ziff said the project was intended to create a positive legacy for his daughter.

“This is not a sad song, although it comes from a very sad story,” he said. “There was so much joy in Celine’s life.

“My only endeavour was not to become a victim of the grief. I wanted to tell Celine’s story and create something positive that celebrates her life and forms part of her legacy.”

The single’s artwork features a painting created by Celine alongside her twin brother Jesse and older sister Luna.

The track was produced by Ru Lemer, whose previous credits include Tom Grennan, Foals and Nile Rodgers, and mastered at London’s Air Studios by Grammy-winning engineer John Webber.

Ziff, who plays drums as a hobby but had never previously written a song, began working on the project with Bertie shortly after Celine’s death. The pair spent six months developing the track, which is now available on streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes.

Ziff added: “She was only with our family for one year and 19 days, but the happiness she brought and the impact she had were enormous.

“She had a little life, but it was a big little life.”
