York-based Aptamer Group has reported a year of accelerating commercial progress after increasing revenues by 25%, expanding its sales pipeline by more than half and generating its first licensing income.<\/p>\n
The AIM-listed biotechnology business expects to report revenue of approximately \u00a31.5m for the year ended 30 June 2026, up from \u00a31.2m the previous year, as demand for its Optimer\u00ae binders continued to grow across pharmaceutical and life sciences customers.<\/p>\n
The company said its sales pipeline has increased by 55% to \u00a34.8m, while it enters the new financial year with a contracted order book of \u00a3600,000, giving greater visibility over future revenues.<\/p>\n
A significant milestone during the year was the first licensing revenue generated from agreements signed with Twist Bioscience and Alphazyme in December 2025. Aptamer believes licensing has the potential to become a higher-margin revenue stream alongside its established fee-for-service discovery business.<\/p>\n
The trading update also highlighted progress across a number of commercial programmes.<\/p>\n
The company has delivered Optimer binders to a global life sciences group for customer validation under a commercial agreement that includes a 2% royalty on future sales of diagnostic products, subject to successful testing.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, collaborations with Metir, Unilever and Invizius continue to advance, alongside work on a food fortification rapid test programme with Imperial College London and a radiopharmaceutical project with one of the world’s three largest pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n
Aptamer said it has also secured contracts worth around \u00a3769,000 with a top-five pharmaceutical company and \u00a3190,000 with another top-10 global pharma business, both contributing to its FY2027 order book and broader pipeline.<\/p>\n
The business continues to invest in artificial intelligence, laboratory automation and its proprietary therapeutic pipeline following its \u00a34.1m fundraising in April, which it says provides funding through to at least 2028.<\/p>\n
Chief executive Dr Arron Tolley said: “We are pleased to report strong revenue growth for FY2026, reflecting continued commercial momentum and successful delivery across the business.<\/p>\n
“The increase in revenues, alongside the expansion of our pipeline to \u00a34.8m, demonstrates growing demand for our Optimer platform and our ability to convert opportunities into contracted programmes.<\/p>\n
“A key strategic milestone was achieved in the generation of our first licensing revenues following agreements signed in December 2025. Together with encouraging partner feedback and ongoing commercial discussions, this reinforces our confidence in the long-term potential of our higher-margin licensing strategy.”<\/p>\n
