Law firm Schofield Sweeney has lifted turnover above \u00a317m and increased profits by almost 12% after a strong year for its corporate, employment and litigation teams.<\/p>\n
The Bradford and Leeds-based firm reported turnover of \u00a317.2m for the year to 31 March 2026, up from \u00a315.9m, while profits before members\u2019 remuneration and profit shares rose to \u00a36.85m.<\/p>\n
The 175-strong business attributed its performance to strong activity levels and a series of key appointments that brought additional expertise into the firm and strengthened its offering to clients.<\/p>\n
Managing partner Graham Sweeney said the firm had delivered \u201creally strong results across the board\u201d, with growth in its corporate, employment and litigation teams.<\/p>\n
The corporate team advised on a number of significant deals during the year, generating further work across other parts of the business. Its growing expertise in consolidation within the financial services sector had also proved a source of new work.<\/p>\n
Sweeney said the momentum had continued into the current financial year, with August \u2014 traditionally expected to be one of the quieter months \u2014 proving one of the firm’s busiest so far.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last year was a success story for us with really strong results across the board, and specific areas of growth across our corporate, employment and litigation teams. This was driven by several really key appointments, to already excellent team, which introduced increased expertise and enabled us to enhance our offering to clients.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe corporate team was involved with a number of significant deals throughout the year, which had a positive knock-on effect for other areas of the business, and the team has also enhanced its expertise around consolidation in the financial services sector which has delivered a lot of work.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is also pleasing to see that our growth is continuing in the new financial year, with August \u2013 usually expected to be one of the quieter months \u2013 actually reporting as one of the busiest this year so far.\u201d<\/p>\n
Beyond its financial performance, 2025\/26 was also a strong year for the firm, with a number of awards, improved legal rankings and involvement in events linked to Bradford\u2019s City of Culture programme.<\/p>\n
Sweeney said the results reflected the firm’s focus on customer service and its expertise across commercial legal matters.<\/p>\n
