Yorkshire’s largest independent family-owned hotel group has completed a £10m investment programme across its portfolio, with further upgrades already in the pipeline.

Cedar Court Hotels has spent six years transforming its properties, refurbishing bedrooms, redesigning public areas and upgrading restaurants, leisure facilities and conference spaces.

The programme has included investment in two gyms, three restaurants and 16 event spaces, as the group looks to attract more local customers alongside hotel guests.

Improvements include the opening of Amber’s Restaurant at Cedar Court Harrogate and new gyms at its Bradford and Huddersfield hotels, both offering access to the wider community.

Around £750,000 has also been invested in solar panels, alongside energy-efficiency improvements and upgraded waste management systems.

Wayne Topley, managing director, said: “This programme has been about a lot more than modernising our spaces. We’ve taken a six-year look at what Cedar Court needs to be for the next generation of guests, our teams, and the communities we operate in.

“We’ve reinvented the group from the ground up, investing in the spaces guests see, the technology and facilities our teams rely on, and the infrastructure that will make our hotels more efficient and sustainable, moving forward.”

The investment comes against a challenging backdrop for the hospitality sector, with operators facing rising costs and pressure on consumer spending.

Cedar Court’s Harrogate and Huddersfield hotels were recognised in Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards in January 2026, placing them among the top 10% of hospitality businesses worldwide based on guest reviews.

The group, which has operated in Yorkshire for more than 25 years, is planning further bedroom upgrades and exploring opportunities to convert underused meeting rooms into flexible leased accommodation for local businesses.

Topley added: “While completing this programme is an important moment for Cedar Court, it isn’t the finish line. We’re continuing to invest, continuing to improve, and continuing to look at how our hotels can play a bigger role in the communities around them.”
