An established Sheffield-based pet product wholesaler and distributor is appointing administrators.<\/p>\n
Vital Pet Group Ltd supplies both independent pet retailers and chains with pet products from within the UK and overseas.<\/p>\n
The company’s last available results, which are for the year ended 28 June 2024, report it employed an average of 86 staff during 2024, had a turnover of \u00a334.9m (2023: \u00a331.3m) and made a pre-tax profit of \u00a3315,921 (2023: \u00a3895,872).<\/p>\n
The firm had been owned by Paramount Retail Group but was sold in August of this year to Tom Wang and Richard Long of SPL Group.<\/p>\n
An update to customers on the business’s website notes: “The business was in a challenging position when Richard and Tom took over, and since then they, together with the wider team, have been working closely with our suppliers to strengthen our trading relationships, improve stock availability and put the business on a strong footing for the future.<\/p>\n
“We have made positive progress, and you will see this reflected in our stock levels over the coming weeks.<\/p>\n
“The focus is very much on building Vital Pet Group into a strong, reliable and growing supplier to the UK pet trade.”<\/p>\n
