Dan’s the man! Yorkshire golfer strikes gold

The talented North Yorkshire golfer Dan Brown has rounded off his best-ever season by tying for second place in the final prestigious PGA EuroPro Tour event at Slaley Hall in Hexham.

Twenty-six-year-old Dan, whose home course is Romanby near Northallerton, was just one shot away from winning, shooting rounds of 68, 71 and 70.

But his overall performance this year means that he has won a coveted place on the European Challenge Tour and underlined his reputation as one of the most exciting young prospects in the professional game.

Dan commented: “This has been a wonderful season for me, the most consistent and the best of my career. The pressure was on at Slaley Hall, with a lot at stake. I needed to secure a Challenge Tour card by finishing in the top three – and I did. This means I am now just one step away from the main European Tour, which is amazing. In footballing terms, I’m now in the Championship, within touching distance of the Premier League.

“One of the key reasons for my success has been the support and sponsorship of the Northallerton-based CTS UK, the flourishing business supply chain specialists. In all honesty, CTS’s sponsorship has been a game-changer, allowing me to concentrate on my game without worrying about anything else.

“CTS’s generous support, together with that of WS Transportation, has had immense benefits on my mental health and wellbeing, enabling me to enjoy my golf without any distractions. I can now concentrate 100 per cent on every hole in every round I play, which has paid dividends.

“I can’t thank CTS and their chairman, and my friend, AJ Swinbank enough. I look forward to repaying their faith and trust in me next year, when I will be helping to promote the company across Europe and further afield.”

AJ Swinbank commented: “I got to know Dan as we both play golf at Romanby. Apart from being an immensely likable young man, he has tremendous potential and it was an easy decision to sponsor him. He is a fine ambassador for us.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to watch Dan play so well this season, culminating in him securing a place on the prestigious European Challenge Tour and very nearly winning at Slaley Hall under such intense pressure. What a tremendous achievement.

“Dan is very generous in acknowledging our support and sponsorship, but we don’t swing the clubs for him and hole his putts. He does. He should be immensely proud of what he has achieved this year and we look forward to supporting him next year when he will surely star on the bigger European stage.”

CTS UK has recently expanded into new premises, with extensive warehouse and distribution facilities, in Darlington Road, Northallerton. The flourishing company supplies PPE, uniforms and workwear, supporting a wide range of organisations from many industry sectors across the UK.  The new premises also host a talented internal artwork, design and production team who create high-quality bespoke products to meet a wealth of needs.

Dan Brown has already had a distinguished amateur career, representing his country at every level and winning the English Amateur Championship at Ganton in 2016.

The PGA EuroPro Tour is Europe’s leading development tour and the European Tour’s satellite in the UK and Ireland. Offering direct access to the Challenge Tour through the final Order of Merit, PGA EuroPro Tour players compete for over £900,000 of prize money with the top five golfers at the end of the season awarded a place on the 2022 Challenge Tour. Dan had to come in the top three at Slaley Hall to secure his place in the top five.

The highlights of the Slaley Hall tournament will be on Sky Sports next week.

Dan Brown will be on hand to offer golf tips at CTS UK’s Open Day at Unit 5, Mile House Business Park, Darlington Road, Northallerton on Thursday November 4, starting at 11.30am
