Flagship event to create a pipeline of tech talent in calls on Leeds businesses to get involved

Industry-led community group the Web Developer Apprentice Network is set to launch a flagship meetup event in Leeds next week for employers to recruit junior web developers. The event set out in a ‘speed dating’ format will play host to local businesses struggling to recruit software developers with the opportunity to meet 12 pre-selected and trained web developer apprentices in 6-minute interviews before reviewing if candidates are suitable for the business.

Crispin Read founding member and industry liaison for the Web Developer Apprentice Network says “Leeds is definitely emerging as the place to be for tech businesses outside of London, it also has this enormous, untapped pool of talent in the surrounding area. Our job is to identify and cultivate that talent to secure Leeds’ future and support local businesses to grow using local talent”

“We set up the Web Developer Apprentice Network as a group of developers to directly address key issues facing the industry, namely diversity and the talent pipeline. We used tried and tested, user-focused, agile planning techniques to quickly outline our solution and we’ve been constantly working on improving it ever since. To secure the talent pipeline for our industry in this country we need to take responsibility for it. As developers, as business owners and as community leaders we all have a duty to improve knowledge share and diversity within teams and across the industry as a whole”

The event takes place at Duke Studios on Wednesday 5th September 4.30-7pm, for more information or to register your business to attend here: https://webdevapprentice.uk/leeds.html
