Leeds Charity Benefits from Local Company’s National Business Award Win

A national award won by a Skipton based business is good news for a Leeds charity.

The Centre for Crisis Psychology (CCP) won the Contribution to the Community category at the Nectar Small Business Awards and has donated part of its prize, 50,000 Nectar points worth around £250, to Streetwise – Love Leeds. The charity provides a loving environment, food and clothing, to some of the most vulnerable adults in Leeds.

Anna Chapman, Managing Partner at CCP says: ‘We have been providing pioneering trauma aftercare for almost 30 years so to win this award is absolutely incredible and a worthy recognition of our hard working team.

‘It also gives us the opportunity to donate the Nectar points to a charity which is very close to our hearts and who do an amazing job, with minimal resources.’

Emma Hawkin of Streetwise – Love Leeds comments: ‘The drop-in centre is operated entirely by volunteers and we currently have 40 to 50 people signing in each week, and some weeks many more. We will use the generous donation from CCP to help fund a Christmas party including a traditional meal with all the trimmings.’

In addition to the Nectar points CCP also won £2,000 which it plans to invest in an e-learning project to provide remote training for UK businesses, for them to be able to deal with the immediate aftermath of a critical incident. They also met and received advice from serial entrepreneur Sarah Willingham.

CCP was founded in 1989 and provides psychological first aid to individuals following traumatic incidents worldwide, as well as consultancy, specialist training and employee assistance programmes.

The company has worked on over 7500 incidents including the Didcot power station collapse, the Tunisia terrorist attack, the London bombings and the Hillsborough stadium disaster.

The Nectar Business Awards are now in their eighth year and celebrate the achievements of hard working small businesses and business people across the UK.
