Pharmaceutical company further develops reflux product

Hull-based RD Biomed has unveiled new packaging, simpler instructions and a new-look online ordering page for its reflux home testing service, Peptest.

The pharmaceutical development and diagnostic company developed Peptest – an accurate, painless and inexpensive test that measures the presence of the stomach enzyme pepsin in a saliva sample and is the world’s only non-invasive diagnostic kit.

New branded, robust and recyclable cardboard packaging enhances the testing experience with a new visual step-by-step instructional guide and an easy to follow reflux symptom guide included in every box.

Packaging has been streamlined with a die-cut insert that can hold up to three tubes while offering storage space for full instructions and a pre-paid return packet, so customers don’t have additional costs to return their samples.

Saliva collection tubes have been updated to include a line that indicates the required level of saliva sample and clear labelling. While, the online order page on the Peptest website has also been redesigned to deliver helpful tips to customers in a simple and straightforward way.

Professor Peter Dettmar said: “Peptest has also been highly rated by customers for its speed of service, value for money and easy to follow instructions, but we wanted to revamp our packaging, so it not only looks nicer and reflects our high-quality service, but to make it as easy as possible for customers to accurately and safely collect samples with minimal chance of error.”

“We also wanted to use more environmentally-friendly, recyclable packaging that is easy to transport, store, and dispose.”

Since its launch in 2012, thousands of private customers have ordered Peptest online with more than 1.4k people receiving positive results for the presence of pepsin.

A home Peptest kit includes full instructions, two or three saliva collection tubes and a pre-paid return packet. After returning samples, the saliva is tested at the RD Biomed lab at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull.

Customers then receive an email with their results within two working days and a free digital booklet with information on reflux disease and diet, lifestyle and treatments.
