New chair at Nottingham Professional Services

Graham Harper and Tom Gray

Nottingham networking group Nottingham Professional Services (NPS) has a new chairman after Andrew Springhall stepped down from the role.

Graham Harper, who works for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank and specialises in healthcare finance, takes over from Springhall. He has worked in Nottingham for a decade.

Harper said: “With local devolution a hot topic, Nottingham has a chance to position itself with a clear offering to all stakeholders; employers, employees, investors and residents.

“Our objective as NPS is to invigorate business activity through better networking across all levels. If Nottingham is to prosper it must develop its professional community and create successors, and here within NPS we aim to ensure the city’s future stars and leaders work together to create this.

“I’d like to thank Andrew for his tireless work and leadership in his role as chair for the last two years and it is now up to the committee (which we have recently expanded further) and I to take that on and build on those solid foundations.”

Harper will lead an expanded committee of 12.

Tom Gray, partner at Fraser Brown, who is a co-founder of NPS and sits on the committee said: “Nottingham has an incredible offering at every level when it comes to careers in the professional services sector. What we want to do is build the profile of our expertise across the city so that local firms keep their work here, rather than looking elsewhere, whilst simultaneously championing Nottingham as a great place to study, live and work if you are employed in the sector.

“We shouldn’t lose top talent and deals to other cities and regions as Nottingham really does have an incredible offering. Our role is to make that clear to everyone.”
