Leicester dry cleaning firm divests business to Essex counterpart

A Leicester dry cleaning firm is set to cease trading at the end of March, with its business transferred to an Essex counterpart.

Alex Reid, based in Whetstone, is set to be wound down on 31 March with its consumables business and customer list transferred to Lynx.

The move will see Lynx will now be the sole distributors of Seitz in England and Wales, and take responsibility for the supply of consumer cleaning chemicals and sundries for all Alex Reid’s independent customers.

Maz Iqbal, director at Lynx, said: “This partnership is an enormous opportunity for Lynx to grow both our brand and customer base nationally and internationally. Alex Reid is very much a complimentary fit for Lynx. Taking on their customer base means we will be able to further increase both our product range and geographical market, our two most important business objectives.”

As of 31st March 2018 the Alex Reid business will cease to trade and Lynx will handle the supply of general consumables to all Alex Reid’s current customers, initially adding sales of £2m. Prior to this date Alex Reid will be operating as normal, supported by Lynx, and all current customers will be contacted with updates on the changes.

Stuart Fullerton, general manager, Alex Reid, said: “Choosing the right partner for this change has been a carefully considered process but in the end we felt Lynx were the perfect service led organisation to take on the Alex Reid customers who we know will be in very good hands.”
