Meet Nikal founder and MD at our property lunch
There’s still time to book a place at our lunch for property professionals on Thursday, September 21, where the speaker will be managing director and co-founder of property and regeneration business Nikal – the business behind Altair, Altrincham’s dynamic new residential and lifestyle quarter.
Nick Payne has been involved in property for nearly three decades. He qualified as a chartered surveyor and worked for Christie & Co in London before returning north in the late 90s to realise his development ambitions.
Since returning home, Nick has been at the heart of Manchester’s reinvention as “the original modern city”, first as a founder director of Westport Developments – where he steered the regeneration of Deansgate Locks before co-founding Nikal in 2003 with business partner, Alan Murphy.
Through Nikal, Nick is responsible for a large development pipeline. Recent achievements include securing a ground-breaking £105m deal with La Salle Investment Management to fund 603 build-to-rent apartments at Exchange Square, opposite the main HS2 hub in Birmingham city centre.
A further £300m of build-to-rent are progressing through planning. Closer to home, Nikal is a powerful force fuelling the renaissance of Salford with Soapworks and the affluent modern market town Altrincham with Altair.
Altair is a new £70m, 4.5-acre neighbourhood on a prime brownfield site in the town centre offering apartments, leisure retail space, Grade A office accommodation, a new leisure centre and the largest public outdoor space to be built in the town in recent years.
Nick will provide guests attending the lunch with the inside track on his career to date. The lunch takes place at The Restaurant Bar and Grill at 14 John Dalton Street in Manchester on Thursday, September 21. Arrival is at 12 noon with guests seated at 12.30pm. The event will conclude at approximately 3pm. Tickets to attend cost £40 plus VAT.
