Plumbing company gets £90,000 boost

Stockport-based Brooktech Maintenance Services, a provider of commercial plumbing services to commercial boilers, is to focus on a pan-UK expansion growth strategy and hire more staff after receiving £90,000 funding from Santander Business Banking.

Started in 2009 by co-founders James Gilmour and Stuart Brookes, Brooktech provides gas, heating, plumbing, air conditioning and electrical services to schools, academies, council buildings and all general commercial premises.

The business is seeing 30 per cent year-on-year turnover growth and, while most of the customers are in the North West, Brooktech has won contracts in the Midlands and London and has plans to expand in these areas.

The funding from Santander Business Banking has allowed the business to hire two additional engineers, an additional member of the admin team along with the expansion of their current fleet.

James Gilmour, co-founder at Brooktech said: “We are seeing increased demand for our services and have needed to expand to meet this demand. The additional engineers mean we can pick up more contracts, while the investment in extra vehicles saves leasing costs. The support from Santander has been invaluable throughout recent months and we look forward to working with them as we continue to grow as a business.”

Luke Rowbotham, relationship director at Santander Business Banking, said: “James and Stuart have taken their years of engineering experience and turned it into a successful business which is seeing fast growth every year. The funding provided will help them to expand their existing team, making them able to fulfil demand from customers and, widen their geographical network.”
