Fire causing severe delays on train services between Leeds and Manchester

A fire at a factory on the train line between Rochdale and Todmordon is causing severe delays to the train services run by Northern between Leeds and Manchester this morning.

A Northern spokesperson said: “Due to a line-side fire between Rochdale and Todmorden there will be no services on this route until at least 09:00. This means services between Manchester Victoria and Leeds are severely disrupted.”

The company said that due to the fire at a factory, it was unsafe to run trains along the route.

Northern said shuttle services were available:

  • Manchester Victoria-Rochdale in both directions – Half hourly shuttles
  • Leeds-Todmorden in both directions.

Replacement buses are also in place to run between Rochdale and Todmorden.

Blackpool North services are unaffected.

Northern customers’ tickets will be accepted on other services as follows:

Metrolink – Manchester to Rochdale.

First TransPennine Express – Manchester to Leeds.
