Customer service honour for Chess

CHESS Telecom, the acquisitive Cheshire company, is celebrating winning a national award for its customer focus.

It was named the best UK business in that category in The European Business Awards, a scheme entered by companies from 33 countries.

Chess, which supplies voice and data to more than 40,000 small and medium-sized business customers, was founded in 1993 by its current chief executive David Pollock.  For the last five years it has ranked as one of the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Mr Pollock said: “We are, and have always been an ambitious organisation with a desire to grow and be great at what we do. We strive every day to be the best of the best and this award is testament to our efforts. We firmly believe that happy people make customers happy and this award shows we are staying true to our vision of being a great place to work and a great place to be a customer.

“We’re very proud to be selected to represent United Kingdom as a national champion. The European Business Awards is widely recognised as the showcase for Europe’s most dynamic companies and we are now looking to go one better and beat the rest of the European competition”.

Adrian Tripp, chief executive of the European Business Awards added: “Congratulations to Chess, it is a great achievement to be named National Champion and we wish them luck in the next stage. The European Business Awards is going from strength to strength, inspiring businesses to greater success and helping to improve the competitive edge of companies across Europe.”
