Optician invests £1m in new procedure

A SIGHT correction specialist with facilities across the North West has invested £1m in a surgical procedure to treat cataracts and reduce reliance on spectacles.

Freedom Vision, with outlets in Manchester, Liverpool, Birkenhead and Newton-le-Willows, has launched Preceyes, which offers previously unavailable levels of precision and accuracy by combining advanced laser technology with surgical skill.

Mr Anil Pitalia, lead ophthalmic consultant surgeon at Freedom Vision, said “I’m very happy to be able to offer Preceyes treatments, as the combination of laser surgery with intraoperative abberometry gives patients so many advantages that simply aren’t available with traditional cataract or lens exchange surgery.

“Whilst Freedom Vision is the only facility to offer Preceyes I foresee that other providers will start providing similar treatments soon, as ultimately this is the future of cataract surgery and sight correction.”
