Appointments: Blackstone Solicitors; Tyson Lighting; Barclays & more

LITIGATION and property law firm Blackstone Solicitors in Hale, Greater Manchester has expanded its team, appointing three new members of staff.

Geraldine Stephens joins as a solicitor within litigation, Sinead Murphy as a paralegal and Richard Harris as a residential conveyancer.

Set up in 2010 by Emma Nawaz Blackstone to handle litigation, the firm expanded its services to encompass a property section in 2014 and has achieved a string of accolades including Team of the Year 2014 at the Manchester Legal Awards and the accreditation to the Conveyancing Quality Scheme.

Nawaz said, “Undoubtedly our tenacious, professional and passionate approach makes us stand out from the crowd.  We are delighted to welcome three more staff members.

TYSON Lighting has promoted two senior members of staff who will work across its new Manchester city showroom and Blackburn head office.

Steve Lumb has been become operations director and Bunmi Fayomi has taken on the role of commercial director.
 
Lumb has been at Tyson for 25 years, having his started his career with the company as a van driver and worked his way up to his most senior position managing the operations team at Tyson.

Fayomi has been with Tyson for two and half years. In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of sales, from new business to managing existing client relationships, commercial aspects, pricing strategies and marketing campaigns.

Both will sit on Tyson Lighting’s management board and report into managing director, Andrew Gibson.

BARCLAYS has announced the expansion of its North West corporate banking team with the appointment of a new head of large corporate banking.
 
Karen Johnson, will lead the team of relationship directors responsible for Barclays Corporate clients who typically have turnover in excess of £50m.

She has more than 25 years of experience in a variety of roles at the Royal Bank of Scotland in the North West and has worked in a number of corporate, property and risk roles, including heading up real estate, portfolio management and insolvency and litigation teams, as well as senior director roles in Corporate business development and corporate portfolio management.

Her leadership and corporate banking experience will add value to Barclays’ clients and their businesses.

LAW firm Glaisyers in Manchester has expanded and now has a family department with the appointment of solicitor Kathryn Hulmes.

Hulmes specialises in advising clients on divorce and civil partnership dissolution.

She also covers the financial implications of relationship breakdown, pre and post nuptial/civil partnership agreements, cohabitation disputes and those involving children.

Hulmes has developed a particular expertise in assisting individuals whose children have been abducted or taken abroad.

As a member of Resulution, Hulmes strategy is to deal with family disputes in an amical way and to adhere to the Resolution code of practice, which advocates a non-confrontational approach when seeking to remedy family difficulties.

She said: “I consider this to be an exciting opportunity and relish the new challenge.

LEGAL company Myerson in Altrincham, Cheshire has appointed Andrew Chapman as a partner

The firm now has 15 partners and a total of 37 solicitors.

Chapman joined Myerson’s Commercial Property department in 2013 having spent eight years as a partner at Land Law LLP in Altrincham.

Prior to that he was a lawyer at DLA Piper in Manchester.
Following the promotion, the property team at Myerson now consists of five partners, one senior solicitor, five Solicitors, a trainee solicitor and a property assistant.
